The Conservatives in Government are cutting taxes which will benefit 35,272 people in Bromley & Chislehurst in April next year and will lift 1,456 people in our constituency out of tax altogether.
This comes along with the reform of Labour’s ‘something for nothing’ welfare culture. In the time that has elapsed since the financial crisis, the majority of benefit levels have risen twice as fast as average earnings. In light of this, the Government is putting welfare on a more sustainable path and restoring fairness to those who pay for it by capping the amount a single household can receive in benefits and capping the amount benefits are increased next year. These measures will save 2.8 billion pounds by 2015.
However, the Government remains dedicated to protecting those in the greatest need and as such is also uprating a number of benefits according to the CPI rate of inflation including: Disability Living Allowance, Carer’s Allowance and Incapacity Benefit.
Commenting on the news, Bob said:
“Conservatives are on the same side as all of the hard working people in Bromley & Chislehurst. We are cutting taxes so people will be able to keep more of their hard-earned money and we are capping benefits so that they no longer outstrip increases in earnings. These are the practical measures through which we can irradiate Labour’s ‘something for nothing’ culture.”
