It was a great Bank Holiday Weekend for Crystal Palace fans and yesterday’s play-off win really does mark a turning point for a local football club that has had a turbulent few years.
I congratulate Ian Holloway and all the players who fought so hard for promotion throughout the season. It was particularly good to see Kevin Phillips thump home the winner. He might be pushing 40, and his previous three playoff final outings might not have gone to plan, but he got the job done yesterday and I hope we see more of him.
As an avid West Ham fan, I have to be careful just how much success I wish the Palace - but I reckon there is room for both of us in the top flight. And two games a season I will be putting in the diary!
