As we approach a critical juncture for the campaign to save the Porcupine, the momentum is firmly on our side. The building itself still stands and, as we have recently been informed, Bromley Council have accepted the bid by Mottingham Residents’ Association to have the Porcupine listed as an Asset of Community Value. This is a huge boost for pub-lovers in Mottingham, because the Porcupine’s status as a listed asset will make it considerably harder for LiDL to get planning permission for the building’s demolition and replacement. Residents are sending a very clear message that they want LiDL to abandon these plans and sell this site to someone who recognises the true value of having a pub at the heart of this village.
