Earlier today (Tuesday 13th August), senior Bromley representatives gathered in Westminster to meet with Environment Agency officers, including Chief Executive Dr Paul Leinster, to discuss the ongoing problems associated with the Waste4Fuel Ltd site in Cornwall Drive. Bob Neill, Member of Parliament for Bromley & Chislehurst, was joined by local Assembly Member James Cleverly and ward councillors John Ince and Harry Stranger, and used the meeting to raise serious concerns about the volumes of waste at this site. Little progress has been made in terms of removing combustible waste from the facility, and this remains a serious concern for local residents and also the London Fire Brigade, which has been forced to attend multiple fire outbreaks in recent years.
After the meeting, Bob Neill MP said:
“It is clear that the operators of this facility are choosing to ignore repeated warnings about the level of net waste going into the site. I am very grateful that Paul and his team agreed to meet with us to discuss the impact this site is having on local residents and on the pupils who attend nearby schools. We will be working closely with Environment Agency officers as they consider next steps.”
